Last Thursday's Story

Once upon a time there was a girl. She knew this really great guy. Pretty well. It was his birthday and she wanted to do something special. So she talked to some friends and did some planning. She went to the store. She toiled long hours in the kitchen. She even skipped class to make sure everything turned out absolutely perfect. That was a bigger sacrifice than it sounded. And she took him out of town to one their favorite places. And there, waiting, (if not quite silently) were all their good friends. And they all sang happy birthday really badly. But he liked it anyway. So they all roasted food around the fire, they laughed, and talked, and walked.
